Dakota Mason’s overtime goal at 2:31 gave the visiting Falher Pirates a wild 9-8 win over the Grimshaw Huskies Nov. 10 in a seesaw battle.
Dallas Brochu’s goal with 1:59 left tied the game as the Huskies blew leads of 4-3, 7-6 and 8-7 during the game.
Pat Rowan and Brochu each scored twice in the Pirates’ win while Trevor Mazurek added five assists. Other Pirates’ goals were from Brian Somers, Darren Kramer, Koltin Caron and Joel Pelletier.
Brendan Hawryluk, Ty Wiebe and Cole Diewert each scored twice to lead the Huskies while Kyle Richardson and Matt Flette each added singles.
It was the second win for the Pirates over the Huskies this season as the Pirates remained perfect at 3-0.
The Huskies outshot the Pirates 49-27 but the Pirates scored on nine of their 27 shots on goaltender David Gingera, who suffered the loss.
The game also continued a strong trend of close games in Grimshaw between the teams. Eight of the last nine games in Grimshaw have been decided by two goals or less and three games by one goal.
Of note, Falher’s Darren Kramer became the first player tossed form a game this season after receiving three stick fouls in the same game.
