Unknown to many, a check of the NPHL record books revealed the Grimshaw Huskies pulled off an amazing win in the first game of their NPHL Preliminary Series against the Falher Pirates.
The 4-2 win marked only the second time in league history that a three-win team or less in the regular season won a playoff game.
Only the 1965 Manning Comets, who won one game that season, opened the playoffs with an 11-7 win at Fairview Feb. 11, 1965 before losing three straight.
No two-win team or three-win team in NPHL history had accomplished the feat before the Huskies win Tuesday.
The Huskies, winner of the first game, now have lost two straight and are following the exact pattern set by the 1965 Comets.
Could the Huskies suffer a similar fate?
One-goal wonders
Including playoffs, the Grimshaw Huskies have now played 11 one-goal games this season. They have lost all 11 of them!
