That didn’t take long!
In the first overtime game in this year’s NPHL playoffs, Mark Simpson scored only 30 seconds in to give the visiting Grimshaw Huskies a 4-3 win and a tie in their East Division Semi-Final 2-2 Tuesday night.
Simpson’s effort, his second goal of the night, came with the lone assist going to goaltender Riley Medves. It was the only shot of overtime.
Simpson and Corson Fairless gave GRIM a 2-0 first period lead.
In the second, Dalton Ducharme pulled MAN to within one goal but Ty Wiebe’s late period goal restored GRIM’s two- goal lead at 3-1.
In the third, MAN rallied. Logan Mazorelle made it 3-2 and with 6:16 left, Josh Rutherford tied the game on the power play with Spencer Ross in the sin bin for holding the stick.
However, Simpson ended any hopes of MAN taking a commanding 3-1 series lead with his goal.
Game 5 is back in GRIM Thursday night.
