The NPHL kicks off its 67th season as the defending champion Grande Prairie Athletics host the Falher Pirates Friday. David Temple, former NPHL linesman and long-time NPHL fan, sets the lines. Last season, I was 52-26 [66.67%] straight up and 44-34 [56.41%] against the line. Only once in almost 30 years of picking games have I ever had a losing season record ATL. Here goes!

Falher at Grande Prairie [Fri., Nov. 1]
LINE: Grande Prairie by 5 1/2

Rumours out of GP have them with a lot of new, young players. What that means time will only tell. If they are ex-Storm players or Junior B matters a lot. FAL will be strong as always. FAL lost 6-1 in GP last season and have lost six straight in GP since 2009. None covered the current line but GP won four of the six games by five goals. The line is too high. Go with history. GP to win but FAL with the goals.

LAST SEASON’S RECORD STRAIGHT-UP: 52-26
LAST SEASON’S RECORD AGAINST THE LINE: 44-34
