Travis McLean made 32 saves to record the shutout and Josh Bennett scored his first goal of the season to lead the hometown Fort St. John Flyers to a 5-0 win over the Dawson Creek Canucks Wednesday night.
DC had a chance to clinch the Lawrence Cup, given to the team which places first overall each season. DC can still clinch with a Falher loss at home against High Prairie tonight [Thursday] or by earning a point in their final game of the season against FAL Saturday.

But the defending NPHL champs sent a message they will not give up their title easily. FSJ led 2-0 after one period on goals from Bennett and Reid Campbell.
In the second period, Brandon Pfeil made it 3-0, then Joey Massingham’s power play goal made it 4-0.
Rick Cleaver’s power play goal rounded out the scoring in the third.
DC’s top-ranked power play was scoreless in four chances, including an extended two-man advantage in the second period when FSJ led 3-0.
The season series concluded with DC winning four of six games.
FSJ has now recorded back-to-back shutouts having blanked the Manning Comets 12-0 Jan. 25
