Tyler Hartman’s first goal of the season broke a 2-2 third period tie and sent the Grande Prairie Athletics to a 3-2 win over the visiting Manning Comets Saturday night.
It was the GP’s third straight win to start the season. It also marked the first time GP has won three straight to start a season since 2013-14 when they won seven straight.
The game featured 120 PIMS with GP getting 87. GP will likely lose Marc-Antoine Viens and Paul Larocque due to suspensions. More on that later.

Calvin Sanders gave GP an early first period lead at 3:12.
However, Taylor Paulovich tied the game on a power play at 11:09.
In the second period, Josh Rutherford gave MAN a 2-1 lead. It was the first time in three games this season GP trailed.
But, Viens tied the game with 1:49 left in the period before Hartman’s game-winner in the third.
Viens faces a possible one-game suspension due to being assessed two misconducts in the game. An automatic game misconduct kicks in. However, an irregularity on the gamesheet will decide his fate for the next game which the NPHL will check into.
Meanwhile, Larocque sits the next two games after receiving a gross misconduct at the end of the game.
